Two delivery modes

  • Incoming webhook: straightforward one-way notifications.
  • Bot API: Block Kit messages, interactive actions and updates to the original message.

Incident actions in Slack

In Bot API mode, responders can acknowledge or resolve an incident from Slack. IncidentRelay verifies the Slack signature and timestamp before processing each action.

Message lifecycle

The original Slack message is updated after acknowledgement or resolution, and actions that no longer apply are removed. Incoming webhook messages remain one-way and cannot be updated.

Required Bot API configuration

Configure a bot token, channel ID and signing secret, then expose the IncidentRelay Slack actions endpoint over HTTPS.
